Saharanpur (Ambehata), In Raniala Dayalpur village, about 40 bighas of wheat crop of four farmers and chaff of one farmer were burnt to ashes due to sparks falling from the power line wires passing over the fields. The villagers brought the fire under control after an hour of hard work. Police and Tehsildar reached the spot and collected information. According to the information received, the fields of farmers like Kakuram son of Rampal, Amrik Singh son of Surjan Singh, Sundar son of Ajmer, Lakheram and Omkar Singh etc. resident of Raniyala Dayalpur village are nearby. Farmers told that wheat harvesting work was going on in the fields at around 1 pm. Meanwhile, a spark came out from the overhead LT line wire and fell into the field and the crop caught fire. The villagers reached the spot by filling water in tankers and poured water on the fire and brought it under control in about an hour. After receiving the information, Tehsildar Nakud Jaswinder Singh, Accountant Ashish Kumar, outpost in-charge Narendra Bhadana reached the spot. Later the fire department vehicle also reached but by then five bighas of Kakuram, six bighas of Sundar, twenty six bighas of Lakheram, two bighas of wheat of Omkar and thirty bighas of crop straw of Amrik Singh had been burnt to ashes. The farmers have demanded compensation and action against the concerned electricity department officials.
