Tempo traveller carrying 26 passengers fell into Alaknanda
13 dead, 13 injured
A major accident took place in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand on Saturday morning. A tempo traveller carrying passengers from Delhi Noida fell into the Alaknanda river. 13 people have died in this accident. While 13 are injured. Six seriously injured have been airlifted by five helicopters to Rishikesh AIIMS, where one injured died. While seven are admitted in the hospital.
The vehicle left at night from Delhi Noida carrying 26 passengers. According to the information, a tempo traveller broke the parapet and fell into the Alaknanda river near Raitoli on the Badrinath Highway, five kilometers ahead of Rudraprayag city. The reason for the accident is said to be the driver dozing off.
On receiving the information, the police administration, district disaster management, DDRF and other teams reached the spot for rescue. When the vehicle fell into the river, three people working on the railway line here also jumped to save the passengers, one of whom died.
The vehicle was stopped for registration check
The accident vehicle was not of Chardham Yatra. Therefore, the trip card of the vehicle was not made. Also, there was no registration of the passengers. Trip card and registration is mandatory only for Chardham vehicles and passengers. It is being told that when the vehicle was stopped for registration check in Brahmapuri, the driver said that he was going on Chopta Tungnath trip. On which the vehicle was released from the check post. All the passengers in the vehicle were youngsters. Who had set out on a trip to Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila. The vehicle was from Haryana. Which was registered only a year ago. All the documents of the vehicle were complete. The passengers were seated in the vehicle from Delhi.
CM Dhami expressed grief over the accident
Expressing grief over the news of the accident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that very painful news of the Tempo Traveler crashing was received. The local administration and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. The injured have been sent to the nearest medical center for treatment. The District Magistrate has been ordered to investigate the incident.

On the Rudraprayag incident, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat said that I pray to God for the peace of the dead and wish for the health of those who are injured.
