Teachers in Katni demonstrate their strength
They surround the Collectorate to protest the mandatory TET exam
Katni, Katni District Teachers' Joint Front (KJT) organized a demonstration involving teachers from across the district. A large number of male and female teachers took to the streets, marched on foot, and surrounded the Collectorate. During this demonstration, the teachers demonstrated their strength and registered a strong protest against the government.
The state government has issued orders regarding the TET exam for teachers, against which a memorandum was submitted.
Teacher Navneet Chaturvedi stated that the exam is scheduled for July and August. This order is causing widespread anger among teachers. The protesting teachers stated that imposing such an eligibility test on teachers who have been serving continuously for the past 20 to 25 years is neither fair nor logical. The teachers stated that this order will directly affect approximately 1.5 to 200,000 teachers and their families in Madhya Pradesh. They say this isn't just a teacher issue, but one that concerns the livelihoods of millions of families, social stability, and the continuity of the education system.
Regarding these demands, the teachers submitted a memorandum to the Katni Collector in the name of the Chief Minister. The memorandum contained three key demands:
First, the mandatory TTE exam for teachers appointed before 2010 should be immediately abolished; second, the School Education Department should file a review petition in the Supreme Court if necessary in the interests of teachers; and third, the earned rights and dignity of serving teachers should be protected. During the protest, the teachers clearly warned that if their demands were not met, they would not participate in the upcoming census work. They would also be forced to formulate a strategy, as directed by the organization, and launch a larger-scale movement.
