Take effective measures to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates: Collector
District Health and Nutrition Committee meeting held
Shahdol, A meeting of the District Health and Nutrition Committee was held at the Virat Hall of the Collector's office, presided over by Collector Dr. Kedar Singh.
The Collector directed that to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates in the district, timely registration of pregnant women must be ensured, and there should be continuous monitoring of their regular health check-ups, vaccinations, and essential medical services.
He stated that ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and field staff of the Health Department should maintain regular contact with pregnant women, and special monitoring should be conducted for high-risk pregnancies.
The Collector instructed officials to identify malnourished, severely malnourished, and underweight children and ensure they are referred to NRC (Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre) facilities to bring them into the normal category promptly.
He emphasized the need to raise awareness among mothers regarding balanced diets, breastfeeding, supplementary nutrition, and hygiene to improve the nutritional status of children.
During the meeting, officials from the Health Department and the Women and Child Development Department were directed to establish better coordination in the implementation of various health and nutrition programs to ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Instructions were also issued to review the work being done under schemes across the Health Department, Women and Child Development Department, and other departments, and to accelerate progress.
District Panchayat CEO Shri Shivam Prajapati, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Mishra, District Programme Officer (Women and Child Development) Shri Akhilesh Mishra, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shilpi Saraf, along with other doctors and concerned officials, were present on the occasion.
