New Delhi, In the last several months, many Indian and multinational companies have retrenched their employees. Big companies like Meta, Amazon, Microsoft are also included in the layoffs. At the same time, Indian startups like Swiggy, Cred, Dunzo, Meesho have also fired a large number of their employees.

Other companies are either not hiring the retrenched employees and if they are hiring, they are not giving them the same package as the previous company. A person fired from Swiggy has posted on LinkedIn that for the last 3 months, he applies for jobs in hundreds of companies every day, but no response comes from most of the places. Some places were called for interview but they also did not offer job.

hope is running out

LinkedIn user has appealed for help in finding a job on LinkedIn. He wrote, “I am unemployed for three months. I apply for more than 100 jobs everyday. Till now only 4-5 places were called for interview, but no response came. Now it has become difficult to survive as I am the only earning member of my family.

The user further wrote, “My family is completely dependent on me. Things are getting difficult. I am trying, trying to give my best, but now I am losing hope. If someone in my connections or someone in your connections can guide me or help me and give good suggestions, then do a personal message.

What was the reason given by Swiggy for the layoff?

Swiggy had announced layoffs on 20 January. Swiggy had laid off 380 employees while reducing its workforce by about 6 per cent. Swiggy had said that he had done overhiring i.e. had hired more people than required. Along with this, Swiggy had given the reason that the growth rate of Swiggy has declined, due to which the profits and income of the company have come down.
