Sugarcane crushing season ends in Saharanpur district
Rs 241 crore outstanding on sugar mills, of which Rs 147 crore is due on Bajaj alone

Saharanpur. The current sugarcane crushing season has ended in Saharanpur district. All eight sugar mills have been closed. District Sugarcane Officer Sushil Kumar said today that the sugar mills of the district have outstanding of Rs 241 crore, out of which Rs 147 crore is due on Bajaj Sugar Mill alone. Deoband's Triveni Sugar Mill has made full payment for sugarcane up to April 15. All eight sugar mills in the district had started sugarcane crushing in November 2023. Todarpur and Bidvi sugar mills were closed in the month of February due to non-availability of sugarcane. Five sugar mills were closed in March-April. Bajaj Sugar Mills owes Rs 147.5 crore. This sugar mill has been able to make only 42.64 percent payment so far. 7 crores on Uttam Sugar Mill, 42 crores on Gagalhedi Sugar Mill, 22 crores on Todarpur Sugar Mill.
Crore, Bidvi Sugar Mill owes Rs 10 crore, Nanota Cooperative Sugar Mill about Rs 13 crore and Sarsawa Sugar Mill owes Rs 2.57 crore. That is, Deoband is the only sugar mill in Saharanpur district which does not have arrears of sugarcane price. The last two crushing seasons of Deoband were also similar. When 100% payment was made. Deoband is the only sugar mill in Saharanpur which ran for the longest period.
