New Delhi, Despite half-centuries from Rajat Patidar and Will Jacques, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost by one run while chasing the target in the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.

After a great start from Phil Salt's inning of 48 runs in 14 balls, with the help of captain Shreyas Iyer's half-century, KKR scored 222/6 against RCB.

For the RCB team which was chasing the target of 223 runs, Will Jacques scored 55 runs on 32 balls and Rajat Patidar played an inning of 52 runs on 23 balls. With the help of which the team was successful in taking the match till the last over but could not win.

With the help of another finishing innings from senior wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, RCB had scored 192 runs after losing seven wickets in 18 overs and needed 31 runs in 12 balls to win.

After hitting a six and a four against Andre Russell in the 19th over, Karthik was out to Phil Salt on the last ball, which became the turning point of the match.

The last over was bowled by Mitchell Starc, against whom Karn Sharma hit three sixes on the first four balls and pulled the match into RCB's court, but on the fifth ball, Starc caught Karn out with the help of a low full toss and took the ninth wicket of RCB. There was still life in the match because three runs were needed from one ball to win but with two runs Bengaluru could have taken it to the Super Over.

However, nothing like this happened. After easily completing the first run on the last ball of the over, Loki Ferguson gets run out while trying to take the second run. RCB's innings was reduced to 221 runs.
