SRH vs PBKS: Hyderabad achieved the second biggest target of IPL
Abhishek is the highest scoring Indian
Hyderabad. Despite strong batting, Punjab Kings lost the match on Saturday in front of the stormy batting of Sunrisers Hyderabad's opening batsmen Travis Head (66) and Abhishek Sharma (141). Batting first, they scored 245 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Sunrisers team achieved this target by 8 wickets with 9 balls to spare. After Sunrisers' explosive start, Punjab team reached the backfoot and then it did not get a chance to recover in this match. With the quick century of SRH opener Abhishek Sharma and his century partnership with Travis Head, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the sequence of four consecutive defeats by defeating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets here on Saturday in a high scoring match of the Indian Premier League.
This is the second biggest win while chasing the target in the history of IPL. Abhishek's century is the highest score by an Indian batsman in the IPL. Earlier, Punjab scored 245 runs for six wickets with the help of captain Shreyas Iyer's innings of 82 runs in 36 balls with six sixes and as many fours. Iyer also shared a 73-run partnership for the third wicket with Nihal Wadhera (27).
Prabhsimran Singh (42) and Priyansh Arya (36) gave the team a stormy start by adding 66 runs in just 24 balls for the first wicket. Marcus Stoinis (34 not out, 11 balls, four sixes, one four) finally played a fast innings and took the team's score beyond 240 runs.
For Sunrisers, Harshal Patel took four wickets for 42 runs while IPL debutant Ishan Malinga took two wickets for 45 runs. Mohammad Shami proved to be very expensive. He conceded 75 runs in four overs without taking any wicket, which is the second most expensive spell in IPL history.
Abhishek and Head gave Sunrisers a great start while chasing the target. Head hit five fours in two overs of Arshdeep Singh (one wicket for 37 runs) while Abhishek started with four fours in Marco Jansen's over and then welcomed Yash Thakur with a four and two sixes.
Abhishek was lucky on Yash's ball though when Shashank Singh caught his catch but it turned out to be a no ball. Sunrisers scored 83 runs without losing a wicket in the power play. Abhishek completed his half-century in just 19 balls with a four off Glenn Maxwell and then took the team's score past 100 runs in the eighth over with a six off Yuzvendra Chahal (one wicket for 56 runs).
