Tarouba, After 52 exciting matches in the T20 World Cup 2024, the match has now reached the knockout stage. On Thursday, June 27, South Africa and Afghanistan teams will face each other in the first semi-final at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. Both the teams have confirmed their place in the top four on the basis of their excellent performance in the group stage. However, there is also a possibility of rain in both the matches. It is reported that there is about a 50% chance of rain during the match in Trinidad.

Reserve day for South Africa vs Afghanistan semi-final
The semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan will be played on Wednesday night (6.30 am Indian time on Thursday). As per the ICC schedule, Thursday will feature a reserve day for the first semi-final, as the final is to be held in Barbados on Saturday, giving the teams a day to complete their travel and other arrangements between the islands. However, the second semi-final between India and England will start at 10:30 am (8.00 pm IST on Thursday) in Guyana. So, the last-four clash between India and England will not have a reserve day on Friday but will have an extra 250 minutes in case of rain.

What happens if the South Africa vs Afghanistan semi-final is cancelled?

If both matches are not possible despite reserve time and days being available, the team that finishes higher in the group stage will advance to the final. South Africa finished on top of Group 2, while Afghanistan finished second in Group 1. This means that in case of rain, the Proteas will qualify for Saturday's final. India will go ahead of England if their match in Guyana is cancelled.
