Patna, In the ongoing Pitru Paksha Mela-2024 in Vishnunagari Gaya, pilgrims from every corner of the country are coming and performing Pind Daan. Every day thousands of people are performing Pind Daan and wishing for the salvation of their ancestors. Among these thousands of Pind Daanis, a couple performed Gaya Shraddha for their 300 ancestors who died in the violence of India-Pakistan Partition. Rajkumar of Dungi Barmana village on the Rajouri border of Jammu and Kashmir stayed at Gayadham for seven days and performed Pind Daan, Shraddha and Tarpan with his wife Satya Devi. Starting from Falgu, Gaya Shraddha was completed at Akshayvat.
Born in Suhana, Pakistan, life is being spent in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir
Rajkumar Sharma told that he was born in Suhana, Pakistan before Partition. He must have been about two years old at the time of violence. As soon as the partition took place, 300 of his relatives from three gotras living in Pakistan were murdered. Young boys were killed. Only old people and children were left. I was also among those children. The relatives who survived somehow brought me to Rajouri Dungi Barmana India border. I have been living there since then. He said that he had come here earlier in 1991 and 2001 as well. He worked hard for years and searched the records of all his ancestors. When he found the names of all his ancestors, he came to Gayadham this Pitru Paksha after 23 days and performed Pinddaan. Mr. Sharma said that he came to Gayaji with his wife and relatives six days ago. He remembered all his ancestors by taking their names for seven days and performed Gayashraddha and prayed for everyone's salvation. He will return after taking the fruit at Akshayvat on Wednesday.
Pinddaan for seven days for the salvation of three hundred ancestors of three gotras
Rajkumar Sharma came to Gaya with a list of about 300 ancestors of three gotras. The names of the ancestors have been searched from revenue records, land records, with the help of priests from Haridwar and Gaya. Sharma told that there is a list of ancestors who were killed in the violence of India-Pakistan Partition. He told that only children and old people were left behind in the violence of that time. Only 10 percent Hindus were left alive. Mr. Sharma told that he came to Gayadham to repay the debt of his ancestors. For seven days, intermittently, he performed Pind Daan at different altars and prayed for the salvation of his father, grandfather and other ancestors. He told that his wife Satya Devi and two-three other relatives also came along. The relatives also performed Pind Daan for their clan like us. Pind Daan was also performed for those who died a natural death in the refugee camp.
