The notification said, 'Semant Kumar Singh, IPS (KN: 1996), Additional Director General of Police, Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force, Bengaluru is transferred with immediate effect and posted as Additional Director General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, Bengaluru until further orders.'
11 deaths occurred in stampede
At least 11 people were killed and many were injured due to stampede during RCB's Victory Parade in Bengaluru. After this, many officers including the Police Commissioner were removed. The Karnataka High Court has also taken a tough stand on this incident. The High Court has taken suo motu cognizance and fixed June 10 as the date for hearing. At the same time, some people have also demanded to register a case against the CEO of Karnataka Cricket Association and M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
How did the incident happen?
The final match of IPL 2025 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on June 3. RCB won the match by six runs and captured the trophy for the first time in the history of IPL. After this, RCB's victory was celebrated at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Many times more people reached here than the capacity of the stadium. People broke the door. After this there was a stampede, in which 11 people died and 33 people were injured.
Action taken against these officers
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that action has been taken against the officers responsible for the stampede incident. The negligent officers Police Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station, Station House Master, Station House Officer, ACP, Central Division DCP, Cricket Stadium Incharge, Additional Police Commissioner, Police Commissioner have been suspended with immediate effect. CM Siddaramaiah has directed the police to arrest the representatives of Royal Challengers Bangalore, DNA Event Management Agency, Karnataka State Cricket Association. He informed on Thursday evening that the investigation against RCB, DNA Event Management Agency, Karnataka State Cricket Association has now been handed over to the CID.
