A large quantity of explosives, IEDs, and weapons were recovered during a joint search operation in the Draba area of ​​the Surankote sector. This operation by the security forces has been successful in preventing potential terrorist activity in the area.

Joint Search Operation Based on Intelligence

According to officials, security forces launched a search operation after receiving inputs regarding terrorist activities in the Draba area. The operation involved a joint team of the Indian Army's 16th Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG), and the CRPF's 38th Battalion.

During the search, security forces recovered explosives and communication equipment hidden at various locations. The recovered material is being examined, while a massive search operation is still underway in the area.

Explosives and weapons-related material recovered from Draba

During the operation, security forces recovered a flower pot-type IED, a round-type IED, and four smaller IEDs. A Motorola wireless set and seven AK-47 rounds were also recovered. Security agencies are investigating the type of terrorist activity the recovered explosives were intended to be used for.

Major recoveries have occurred in the forests of Poonch before

Operations against terrorists are ongoing in Poonch district. Previously, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) conducted joint operations in various forest areas of the district and uncovered several suspected terrorist hideouts. These operations resulted in the recovery of IEDs, hand grenades, AK-series rifles, and a large number of live machine gun rounds.

Tight security along the LoC

Security forces are also conducting continuous surveillance and patrols along the Line of Control in the Balakot and Mendhar sectors of Poonch. During these operations, foreign-made pistols and consignments of narcotics dropped from across the border via drones or other means have been recovered. Security agencies are also monitoring cross-border arms and drug smuggling.

Operations against terrorists intensified in Rajouri

In addition to Poonch, security forces have also intensified anti-terrorism operations in neighboring Rajouri district. Following the fierce encounter in the forests of Mughalan and Dorimal, the Army, Special Operations Group (SOG), and CRPF jointly launched a large-scale search operation.

Drones, helicopters, and trained sniffer dogs were used to search for suspected terrorists hiding in natural caves and inaccessible areas in the forests. During the operation, the Rashtriya Rifles destroyed a suspected hideout. A ready-to-use IED, along with clothes and rations, was also recovered from the scene.

Logistics base discovered in Islampur Bhangai, Thannamandi

Security forces also discovered a hidden logistics base for terrorists in the Islampur Bhangai area of ​​Thannamandi. Items including blankets, gas stoves, and food items were recovered, which could have been used for long-term hiding and shelter in the jungle.

Security forces say that the ongoing operations against terrorist hideouts and logistics networks in border districts like Poonch and Rajouri are aimed at completely eliminating terrorist infrastructure and pre-empting potential attacks. Security forces will continue to maintain surveillance and search operations in these areas.
