After convincing Akhilesh Yadav, the Congress Party today gave a strong signal to its senior leader Imran Masood to contest the elections. Imran Masood told this correspondent that he will contest the elections as a candidate of the alliance and will give a tough challenge to the BJP in the elections. Fazalur Rahman Qureshi, the current BSP MP from Samajwadi Party, was considered a strong contender for this seat. Fazal Rehman Qureshi told that Akhilesh Yadav has given this seat in the alliance to the Congress Party and he will not contest the elections this time. Although Akhilesh Yadav wanted the Congress Party to contest the elections but the Congress Party was not ready for it. This will be Imran Masood's third consecutive Lok Sabha election. In 2014, there was a tough contest between him and the BJP. Imran Masood had given a tough fight to BJP by securing more than four lakh votes. BJP's Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma won the election. In the 2019 election, Fazalur Rehman Qureshi was the candidate of the SP-BSP-RLD alliance. He had received more than five lakh votes. Congress fought separately. Its candidate Imran Masood had received two lakh ten thousand votes. Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma of BJP was able to get around five lakh votes and had to face defeat. Due to the separation of the current BSP MP from his party, BSP has made Majid Ali, husband of former District Panchayat President, in-charge of Saharanpur Lok Sabha. BSP District President Janeshwar Prasad told today that sister will make Majid Ali the candidate. According to BJP District President Dr. Mahendra Saini, the popular leader Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma, who contested the last two elections, has a strong possibility of being fielded in the elections this time. No other powerful person is claiming the ticket here. There is a stream of people congratulating Imran Masood. It is believed that Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma and Imran Masood, who contested the last three elections, may face each other once again. Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat has 39 percent Muslim voters i.e. more than six lakhs. Imran Masood has told that he will also have the support of Chandrashekhar, the leader of Chandrashekhar's Azad Samaj Party. Due to which there will be good support among Dalits also. According to Imran Masood, Dalit leader Chandrashekhar Nagina can be the alliance candidate from the reserved seat. Keep in mind that Samajwadi Party has declared Iqra Hasan, daughter of late MP Munawwar Hasan, as its candidate for Kairana, the second Lok Sabha seat of Saharanpur. The candidature of sitting BJP MP Pradeep Chaudhary from this seat is also almost certain.
