Famous industrialist Ratan Tata is no more. He breathed his last on Wednesday at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 86. He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He was admitted in the ICU. Three days ago, the news of his death had also come out, but later he himself rejected it. He had told through a social media post that he was absolutely fit and fine. Personalities from politics, industry and film world condoled his death. He was given a final farewell on Thursday. Many personalities including Home Minister Amit Shah were present on this occasion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the death of Ratan Tata. PM Modi wrote, Ratan Tata was a brilliant business leader, kind and extraordinary person. He provided stable leadership to one of India's oldest and most prestigious business houses. His contributions went far beyond the boardroom. His humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to improving our society endeared him to many. One of the most unique aspects of Ratan Tata was his passion to dream big and make it happen. He was at the forefront of supporting causes such as education, health, sanitation, animal welfare, to name a few.
In his official statement, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that Ratan Tata was a truly extraordinary leader whose incomparable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the fabric of our nation. For the Tata Group, he was more than a chairman. For us, he was a mentor, guide and friend. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded beyond measure. He always remained true to ethical standards. He left a deep mark in every field for philanthropy and the betterment of society. The leadership he showed in every sector, be it education or health, will benefit generations to come.
Ratan Tata's full name was Ratan Naval Tata. Born on 28 December 1937 in Mumbai, Ratan Tata was the son of Naval Tata and Suni Commissariat. When Ratan Tata was 10 years old, they were separated. After that he was formally adopted by his grandmother Navajbai Tata through JN Petit Parsi Orphanage. Ratan Tata was raised with his stepbrother Noel Tata (son of Naval Tata and Simone Tata).
