Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by 3 wickets in a thrilling match

In the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 today i.e. on Saturday, Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by three wickets in Mullanpur, Mohali. In this match played at Maharaja Yadvinder Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Rajasthan won the toss and bowled first and restricted Punjab Kings to 147 runs for 8 wickets and then achieved the target of seven wickets in 19.5 overs. In IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals have their fifth win in six matches while Punjab Kings have suffered their fourth defeat in as many matches.
Rajasthan needed 20 runs to win in the last two overs and Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell were at the crease. But Sam Curran gave the sixth blow to Rajasthan by sending Powell to the pavilion. After this, Rajasthan needed 10 runs in the last over to win and Hetmyer was present there. Taking the last over, Arshdeep Singh bowled two empty balls against Hetmyer. However, Hetmyer turned the match towards Rajasthan by hitting a six on the third ball. Hetmyer again took two runs on the fourth ball and hit a six on the fifth ball, giving Rajasthan a three-wicket win.
Hetmyer played a match-winning inning of 27 runs in 10 balls with the help of one four and three sixes at a strike rate of 270.00. Apart from them, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 39, Tanush Kotian scored 24, captain Sanju Samson scored 18, Ryan Parag scored 23 and Rovman Polev scored 11 runs. For Punjab, Kagiso Rabada and captain Sam Curran got two successes each while Arshdeep Singh, Liam Livingston and Harshal Patel got one success each.
Earlier, for Punjab, impact player Ashutosh Sharma played a brilliant inning of 31 runs in 16 balls. Apart from them, Jitesh Sharma contributed 29 runs and Liam Livingston contributed 21 runs. For Rajasthan Royals, Keshav Maharaj and Avesh Khan took two wickets each while Kuldeep Sen, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult took one wicket each.
