Katni, Heavy rains in the rural areas of Katni district since last night have disrupted life. Shivnagar settlement of Rethi area has been completely submerged. Here the houses are filled with water up to the knees, due to which people's household goods have also drowned in the water. The people of Shivnagar are facing flood-like conditions and local residents say that there is no arrangement for water drainage in the area. Being settled in the low-lying area, the water from the hills entered the settlement directly. SDM Pradeep Mishra informed that as soon as the situation was reported, the administrative team reached the spot and with the help of JCB, a temporary drain was dug for water drainage. Relief work is still going on. The same SDM Pradeep Mishra also told that the rain continues in Dhimarkheda area as well. Rivers and drains are in spate in the surrounding areas including Silauri village. Danger has started looming as the water level has risen. The district administration has advised people living on the banks of rivers and streams to move to safer places. People have been told to take temporary shelter in government schools or buildings and not to cross the swollen rivers.
