Railway recruitment process to accelerate further
Technology to be extensively used to enhance transparency: Ashwini Vaishnaw
New Delhi, Indian Railways is taking major steps to make its recruitment process faster, more transparent, and technology-driven. While conducting a high-level review of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) system on Friday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw instructed officials to maximize the use of modern technology and ensure that recruitment processes are completed in a time-bound manner.
The Railway Minister announced that all departmental examinations of the Railways will now be conducted via Computer-Based Tests (CBT). Additionally, the scope of the tablet-based testing system will be expanded to make the recruitment process even more effective and transparent.
Over 43,000 youths secured jobs in a year
Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that during the 2025-26 financial year, Indian Railways significantly accelerated its recruitment process, appointing 43,781 candidates. He noted that a large number of vacant posts could be filled on time due to the technology-driven and streamlined recruitment system.
According to the Railway Minister, the Railways completed the recruitment process for a total of 47,084 posts across six major categories, with 43,781 candidates receiving appointments.

The Railway Minister stated that the highest number of appointments were made in the Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician categories, which will further strengthen the operational framework of the Railways. Positive Response to Annual Recruitment Calendar
Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the annual recruitment calendar implemented by the Railways has received a positive response from aspirants. It enables candidates to get timely information about vacancies and prepare more effectively.
He added that continuous efforts are being made to make the railway recruitment system more predictable and convenient for candidates.
Special Emphasis on Technology-Driven Recruitment System
During a review meeting, the Railway Minister emphasized that for Indian Railways—one of the country's largest employers—it is crucial for the recruitment process to be fair, transparent, and reliable. With this objective, modern technologies are being integrated into the recruitment mechanism.
He instructed officials to further strengthen the use of technology in conducting exams, evaluation, and result processing to minimize the scope for human error in the recruitment process.
Railway Recruitment Exams Conducted in 15 Languages
The Railway Recruitment Board's examination process is considered one of the largest recruitment systems in the country, involving lakhs of candidates across various cities and exam centers nationwide. To accommodate such a large number of aspirants, computer-based tests are conducted in multiple phases and shifts.
To ensure equal opportunities for candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds, railway recruitment exams are conducted in 15 languages, thereby facilitating aspirants from all regions of the country.
Indian Railways believes that a technology-driven recruitment system, transparent processes, and time-bound appointments will not only provide employment opportunities to the youth but also significantly strengthen railway operations and service quality.
