Publication or publicity of any type of exit poll and its results will be completely banned till 30th November
Anyone found guilty of violating the provision will be punishable with imprisonment of up to two years or fine or both
The Model Code of Conduct for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections-2023 is effective. Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan said that during the Model Code of Conduct, any type of exit poll related to the election will be organized from 7 am on November 7 to 6:30 pm on November 30 and its results will be published through print or electronic media. There will be a ban on publishing or promoting it or disseminating it in any other way. A notification to this effect was issued by the Election Commission of India on 31 October 2023.
Shri Rajan said that it has been provided in Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act 1951 that no person shall conduct any issue poll and the result of any issue poll shall not be published during such period as may be notified by the Election Commission in this regard. , publish or publicize through print or electronic media or disseminate in any other manner. If any person contravenes the provision, he shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
