Prisoners lodged in jail took bath with the water of Maha Kumbh

Prisoners lodged in 75 jails of Uttar Pradesh took bath with water brought from Sangam in Maha Kumbh held in Prayagraj. Officials gave this information. The Uttar Pradesh Jail Administration made arrangements for this and delivered water from Sangam in Prayagraj to 75 jails across the state. Jail Minister in the state government Dara Singh Chauhan oversaw the program at Lucknow Jail. Addressing the program, he said, "I felt that people from all over the world can reach Sangam but the prisoners of our jail cannot do so. So we decided to make arrangements for our prisoners in jail." Jail department officials said that more than 90,000 prisoners are currently lodged in 75 jails including seven central jails across the state.
What did Jail Director General PV Ramasastri say
Prison Director General (DG) PV Ramasastri said that water from Sangam was brought to all the jails and mixed with normal water and stored in a small tank within the jail premises. Officials said that the prisoners voluntarily bathed with the water after praying. Meerut Jail Superintendent VR Sharma said that on the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Jail Minister Dara Singh Chauhan, Ganga water was brought from Sangam city Prayagraj and a small bathing room was built in the jail premises, which was filled with water. Sharma said that the prisoners in the jail bathed with the water brought from Prayagraj by mixing it in a pot. He said that many prisoners took a pledge from this event that they will devote their lives to social service in future and will be associated with positive works.
Enthusiasm was seen among the prisoners
The jail superintendent said that we have ordered Ganga water from Prayagraj so that the prisoners in our jail also get the benefit of Maha Kumbh. He said that after performing Puja-Archana with chanting of mantras in the presence of Pandits as per the rituals, the water was poured into the tank of the jail so that all the prisoners in the jail can take the benefit of Kumbh bath from the water of that tank. The superintendent said that while the prisoners were very happy with this initiative of the jail administration, this work done for the prisoners is also being appreciated everywhere. He said that this event was organized by the jail administration with the aim of connecting the prisoners with religion, spirituality and Sanatan culture.

In-charge Deputy Jail Superintendent of Baghpat District Jail Prashant Kumar told 'PTI-Bhasha' that as per the instructions of the Uttar Pradesh government and the prison headquarters, all the prisoners lodged in Baghpat jail were given a bath after worshiping with the holy water brought in Amrit Kalash from Prayagraj Mahakumbh at around 10 am today (Friday). He said that the prisoners took bath with great enthusiasm with the slogans of 'Ganga Maiya Ki Jai' and 'Mahakumbh Smrit Rahe' and expressed gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government and the district jail administration for this. Kumar said that a tank was prepared in the jail premises for the bath of the prisoners and it was filled with water and the water brought in the pot was mixed in it. He said that the prisoners collectively took a bath with the water of Sangam, which has brought enthusiasm among the prisoners.
