Raipur, After consecutive electoral defeats, discussions of leadership change in Chhattisgarh Congress have intensified. According to party sources, the appointment of two working presidents along with the new state president is being seriously considered, so that caste and regional balance can be established.
Under the leadership of current state president Deepak Baij, the Congress has faced defeat in four consecutive elections, leading to demands for change in the organization. According to sources, senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singhdeo is being considered to be made the state president.
If TS Singhdeo becomes the state president, the party is considering the appointment of two working presidents. Under this formula, one working president can be from the tribal community and the other from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), so that representation of different communities can be ensured.
The names of Indra Shah Mandavi, Phoolodevi Netam, Anila Bhendia, Lakheshwar Baghel and Amarjeet Bhagat are in discussion from the tribal community. At the same time, Umesh Patel, Dwarkadhish Yadav and Ramkumar Yadav are among the main contenders from the OBC category.
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has recently been appointed as the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and has also been made in-charge of Punjab. Due to this, the need for new leadership is being felt in the state, so that there is balance in the organization and better performance can be done in the upcoming elections.
The possible leadership change in Chhattisgarh Congress and the appointment of two working presidents are aimed at strengthening the party and establishing balance between different communities. An official announcement in this regard is likely to be made in the coming days, which will determine the future direction of the party.
