Former Chief Minister of Punjab and senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal Parkash Singh Badal passed away at the age of 95. He breathed his last in a private hospital in Mohali. He was ill for a long time. Parkash Singh Badal has been the Chief Minister of Punjab for a record 5 times.

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal was admitted to a hospital in Mohali a week ago after he complained of breathing problems. He was also kept in the ICU on Monday, where doctors were closely monitoring his health.

Parkash Singh Badal was born on 8 December 1927 in Abul Khurana village of Fazilka, Punjab. He started his political career in the year 1947 as a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) party. He was also the Chief Minister of Punjab 5 times.

In 2012, Parkash Singh Badal became the oldest CM. He was the oldest candidate during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. Although Badal lost this election. This was Una's 13th assembly election.
