Police intercept pickup truck loaded with illicit liquor in dramatic fashion
110 cartons of country-made liquor and 67 cartons of beer seized
Alot. In a major crackdown on illicit liquor smuggling, Alot police seized a large quantity of illegal liquor from a pickup truck lacking a registration number on Sunday evening. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the suspicious vehicle—which was approaching from the direction of Ranayara Peer—near Shankar Mandir; they surrounded and stopped the vehicle in a dramatic, cinematic manner before taking it into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed 110 cartons of country-made liquor and 67 cartons of beer. The police seized the entire consignment along with the pickup truck.
Police have arrested Pradhan Singh (26), son of Vikram Singh and a resident of Ranayara Peer, in connection with the case. The accused is being interrogated to identify other individuals and networks involved in the liquor smuggling operation.
According to the police, the campaign against the illicit liquor trade will continue, and no one involved in this illegal activity will be spared. Legal action is being taken under the Excise Act and other relevant sections.
