One of the main accused in the murder of father-son arrested
One of the main accused in the murder of a man and his son in violence-hit Murshidabad district of West Bengal has been arrested. This is the fourth arrest in the case of murder of two people in Jafarabad of Shamsherganj, a senior official said on Sunday. The arrested person has been identified as Ziaul Sheikh, a resident of Sulitala Purbapara, a neighboring village of Jafarabad. He was absconding since the crime incident on April 12.
Police have sufficient evidence
He said that Sheikh was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) and Special Investigation Team (SIT) of West Bengal Police from his hideout in Chopra of North Dinajpur district on Saturday. The officer said, 'This person is one of the main accused who instigated and conspired the mob to vandalize the house of the deceased and kill Hargobindo Das, his son Chandan Das on April 12.' He said police have all the evidence, CCTV footage and his mobile phone tower location to prove his presence at the crime scene on April 12.
Over 100 FIRs, 276 people arrested
Earlier, police had arrested two brothers Kalu Nadar and Dildar and Inzamam Ul Haq for their involvement in the murder of the two. Kalu was arrested from Murarai in Birbhum district, his brother Dildar was nabbed from Bangladesh border area under the jurisdiction of Suti police station. The third accused was arrested from Suripara, a neighbouring village in Jafarabad. The officer said we have registered over 100 FIRs in Murshidabad violence cases. We have arrested 276 people in these cases so far. At least three people were killed in the violence that broke out during recent protests over the amendment to the Waqf Act.
