PM Modi will dedicate three warships to the country tomorrow
Will be equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensor packages
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three new warships to the country on Wednesday during his Maharashtra visit. According to the PMO, the dedication of three major naval warships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vagsheer to the nation is a significant leap towards realizing India's dream of becoming a global leader in defense manufacturing and maritime security. Along with this, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Shri Shri Radha Madanmohanji Temple under the ISKCON project in Navi Mumbai. Spread over nine acres, the project includes a temple with idols of many deities, a Vedic education center, proposed museum, auditorium and treatment center.
INS Nilgiri can stay in the sea for a long time
INS Nilgiri is the first ship of the 17A stealth frigate project. It has been designed by the Warship Design Bureau of the Indian Navy. It has been inducted into the Navy with enhanced capacity, longer stay in the sea and advanced stealth features. It represents the next generation of indigenous frigates.
INS Surat, one of the world's destroyers
INS Surat is the fourth and final ship of the 15B class guided missile destroyer project. It is one of the world's largest and most sophisticated destroyers. It has 75 percent indigenous content, equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities.
Waghsheer built in collaboration with the French Navy
INS Waghsheer is the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene project. INS Waghsheer represents India's growing expertise in submarine construction. It has been built in collaboration with France's Naval Group.
