Dhar, World Heritage Week is being celebrated by Dhar, Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums, Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal from 19 to 25 November. Under the World Heritage Week, on Tuesday, 21st November, a photo exhibition based on the rock paintings of Bhimbetka was displayed in the museum located in the ancient fort complex of Dhar. Many paintings were displayed in the gallery of the museum.

From college students to school children and tourists visited this photo exhibition. On Tuesday, the photography exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Sadhna Singh, head of the painting department of Government College, Dhar. On this occasion, Dr. Deependra Sharma, Director of Bhoj Research Institute and Mrs. Kanti Tirkey, Principal of Government Fine Arts College were also present. The guests were welcomed by Dr. DP Pandey, Assistant Curator of the District Archaeological Museum, Archeology Department. Also provided various information to the children on the purpose of the exhibition and the heritage of Bhimbetka.

About rock paintings of Bhimbetka

Bhim Betka Caves are about 45 km from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh state. Located in the north-east.These caves are located near Bhiyapur village in Raisen district. It is full of rock shelters containing the world's oldest rock paintings. On the northern edge of the ancient Vindhyachal mountain range is a site of excellent rock shelters and paintings. Hidden amidst dense forests, lush greenery, rocky terrain and rocky peaks and situated amidst high rocks protecting ancient complexes, the caves of Bhimbetka hold special significance. Bhimbetka caves were discovered in 1957-58. Dr. Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar, a great archaeologist from Vikram University, Ujjain, discovered this site.
