Operation Sindoor has rattled Pakistan
Firing on LoC; 15 civilians killed
Indian Army's Operation Sindoor has caused panic and uneasiness in neighbouring country Pakistan. As a result, the rattled Pakistani Army personnel have been heavily shelling villages located near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Tangdhar areas of Jammu and Kashmir since last night, in which at least 15 people, including four children, have died so far, while 43 others have been injured. Officials gave this information.
This shelling started soon after the Indian Armed Forces launched missile attacks on nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Officials said that all the civilians died in Poonch district, the worst affected by the shelling. They said that 43 people have also been injured, some of whom are said to be in critical condition.
Indiscriminate shelling creates panic among border residents
Officials said indiscriminate shelling by Pakistan caused panic among border residents and forced them to take refuge in underground bunkers or move to safer places within or outside their villages. They said shelling was reported from Balakot, Mendhar, Mankot, Krishna Ghati, Gulpur, Kerni and even Poonch district headquarters near the Line of Control in Poonch, resulting in damage to dozens of residential houses and vehicles.
Officials identified the deceased as Balwinder Kaur alias Ruby (33), Mohammad Zain Khan (10), her elder sister Zoya Khan (12), Mohammad Akram (40), Amrik Singh (55), Mohammad Iqbal (45), Ranjeet Singh (48), Shakeela Bi (40), Amarjit Singh (47), Maryam Khatoon (7), Vihaan Bhargav (13) and Mohammad Rafi (40).
10 including 5 minor children injured in shelling in Uri sector
Officials said 10 people including five minor children were injured in cross border shelling in Uri sector of Baramulla district, while three others were injured in Rajouri district. They said several houses caught fire due to shelling in Karnah sector of Kupwara district. The shelling from across the border was intense till afternoon and continued intermittently later. The firing was mainly restricted to Poonch sector.
