Shivhar, like Jallianwala Bagh, the British police put the country's devotees to sleep by showering bullets on those brave sons in Tariyani Chapra.
Shivhar: In the freedom struggle of the country, the brave sons of Shivhar district also protected the motherland by losing their lives to protect the country and to achieve independence.
10 brave sons of Tariyani Chapra Panchayat sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country on 30 August 1942, which during the Quit India Movement, the memorial of those brave sons in Tariyani Chapra comes second after Jallianwala Bagh in the entire country.
The status of the brave sons who fell prey to the bullets of the British is given the highest, where even today it can be seen and read in school books. However, even today administrative indifference and expectations of public representatives regarding the construction of such a sacred place remain intact.
On 30 August 1942, 10 brave sons of Tariyani Chapra Panchayat, including 65-year-old Navjad Singh, 30-year-old Bhushan Singh, 45-year-old martyr Jai Mangal Singh, 32-year-old Sukhdev Singh, 30-year-old Sundar Ram, 40-year-old Budhan Mahato, 35-year-old Bansidas, 50-year-old Parsan Sah, 45-year-old Chhathu Sah, 55-year-old Baldev Singh Sumit, who were crazy about the freedom movement, sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.
Local Mukhiya Arpana Singh has told that among them, martyr Shyam Nandan Singh, challenging the rule of the British, sat on a hunger strike in Buxar jail demanding freedom from political prisoners, he became a martyr for the country on the 22nd day.
It is worth mentioning that during the unveiling of Mahatma Gandhi's statue on 27 November 2016 at Tariyani Chhapra Chowk, senior JDU leader Vashishtha Narayan Singh while addressing the gathering had announced the construction of a martyr's memorial site from his personal funds in front of hundreds of people. The construction of a boundary wall was done at a cost of approximately 20 lakhs.
The then MP Rama Devi had also visited the memorial site and donated 10 lakh rupees for the construction of the boundary wall. The work of filling soil was done by the head of the Panchayat institution through MNREGA and the then DM Rajkumar had also announced the conversion of the martyr's memorial into a martyr's park and had asked for a model park to be built, but the matter remained confined to paper only.
The local villagers, with mutual cooperation, collected donations and donated their labour and constructed a martyr's memorial site to some extent in the memory of the brave sons. Today, on Martyr's Day, a program is being organized by head Arpana Singh and social worker Nitesh Singh Maharaj where tributes will be paid to the brave martyrs.
