Anuppur, on Saturday, a 27-year-old young woman working in the Railway Department Anuppur reached the Kotwali Anuppur police station and filed a report that for the past few days, Surendra Shivhare, a resident of Anuppur, has been stalking her with bad intentions while going to and coming from duty and on the intervening night of 17 and 18 October 2024, at around 03.00 am, when the young woman was sleeping in her house, suddenly she heard the sound of knocking on the door, and when she looked through the window, Surendra Shivhare jumped over the gate of the house and came to the first floor and was knocking on the door. On hearing the noise, the people around woke up and Surendra Shivhare fled from the spot and left after keeping toffees and objectionable letters in a ladies small purse at the door of the house. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Anuppur Shri Moti Ur Rehman, TI Kotwali Inspector Arvind Jain immediately registered crime number 457/24 section 78,331(4) BNS on the report of the young woman and Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashish Singh, Head Constable Mahendra Rathore, Sheikh Rasheed, Rajesh Kanwar arrested the accused Surendra Kumar Shivhare father Gaya Prasad Shivhare age 42 years resident in front of Khedia Petrol Pump Anuppur and sent him to jail after presenting him in the court. An advisory has been issued by Superintendent of Police Anuppur Shri Moti ur Rehman that any man repeatedly following or trying to contact a woman and monitoring a woman's use of internet, email or any other type of electronic communication (stalking) is a legal offense under Section 78 of the new law Indian Penal Code (BNS). Commenting or making any word to disrespect the modesty of a woman is a crime under Section 79 of the Indian Penal Code. Continuous staring at a woman by a man (voyeurism) is a crime under Section 77 of the Indian Penal Code. If any person commits the above act, action should be taken against such criminals by immediately informing the police. Not informing the police at the right time or not reporting the activities of the miscreants to the police encourages the criminals, due to which they can commit any crime in future also. Therefore, immediately inform the police for taking action against such criminals, so that strict action can be taken against criminals related to women.
