On the occasion of National Consumer Day, a consumer awareness program was conducted in the Collectorate office premises today

Damoh, On the occasion of National Consumer Day, a consumer awareness program was organized in the Collectorate office premises today with the aim of making consumers aware. The program was started by State Backward Class Commission Chairman Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmaria and former Finance Minister and Damoh MLA Jayant Kumar Malaiya by lighting a lamp in front of the picture of Maa Saraswati.
At the beginning of the program, MLA Damoh and the Chairman of the Backward Class Commission visited the camps set up in the Collectorate premises. They took information about the schemes being given in the camp. Along with this, they discussed with the common people who came to the camp. A demonstration was also given in the program regarding adulteration in food items. On this occasion, various speakers expressed their views in detail regarding making consumers aware.
On this occasion, District Judge and Chairman Consumer Forum Rishabh Kumar Singhai said that today the whole country is celebrating National Consumer Day. At present, the need of the hour is that every person should be aware of consumer rights, consumer services are expanding very fast, they are available online as well as physical, instead of going to the market, people are ordering goods sitting at home, consumers have their rights on them as well as you buy any item from the market. He said that whether you buy mobile from the market or order it online, your rights have been provided in the Consumer Act regarding guarantee of repair, warranty and right price, you have been provided protection, you should be aware of your rights and get proper service. He told that cases up to 20 lakhs can be brought to the district level, there is no court fee for cases up to 5 lakhs, above 5 lakhs the court fee goes down to about one thousand rupees, cases from 20 lakhs to 1 crore rupees can be brought at the state level and cases above one crore go to the National Commission in Delhi.
Former Finance Minister and Damoh MLA Jayant Kumar Malaiya said that on the occasion of National Consumer Day, different camps have been set up here, stalls have been set up to teach how to measure the goods, how to check if there is adulteration or problem in any item and also to make the public aware, whatever work can be done for the benefit of the public, the Food Department has done it for you people on the occasion of National Consumer Day. He said that lawyers are also sitting here, those who cannot spend money can take free advice from them, this is also a big service which has been arranged by the government. Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmaria, Chairman of the State Backward Classes Commission said that information should reach the people, all the people present here are geniuses, people who are eager to learn and understand something are present here, but there will be many among them who are not aware of all these things. I thank this wonderful effort for awareness. He urged the legal experts to prepare some pamphlets from their side which contain small things that people can understand and send them to the people so that they can study them and understand their rights.
Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar said that this program was organized today to make the consumers aware of their rights and in this connection to display the materials, equipment and testing methods related to the interests of the consumers. He said that I am thankful to the Chairman and Member of the Consumer Rights Commission, who came here today and observed the camp and also provided their guidance to this camp. Apart from this, MLA Jayant Kumar Malaiya ji, Chairman of State Backward Class Commission Kusmaria ji also came to this program and observed the entire camp and he also provided his guidance from his side. Collector Mr. Kochar said that every person is a consumer, we all should be aware of our rights and as a district administration, we are committed to spread awareness among consumers in every village, for that also we are planning how we can spread this wave of awareness in every village.
The program was conducted by Manish Nagaich and Vipin Choubey. During this, exhibitions were organized by weights and measures, food department, post office and other departments.
