Terminal construction approved
Purnia. Another good news is coming for the people of Bihar. Actually, after Patna and Darbhanga in Bihar, now soon flights are preparing to take off from Purnia airport as well. Permission has been granted to build a terminal at Purnia airport. In the third phase of Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had instructed the officials to speed up the work during his visit to Purnia, after which now the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved the construction of the terminal building. That is, soon Bihar is going to get the gift of another new airport.
Under the tender issued by AAI, this terminal building will be constructed at a total cost of ₹ 33.99 crore. Now the process of selection of the final agency is in the final stage, after which the work will start. The architect of AAI (Airport Authority of India) has already prepared the design of Purnia airport.
This airport will be equipped with 'state of the art' facilities and has been designed keeping in mind the passenger footfall of the next 30-40 years. A total of five aerobridges will be built at this airport, which will provide better connectivity to the passengers. Before the construction of the main airport terminal, an interim terminal building will be built on the porta concept, so that flight operations can be started soon. According to AAI, DGM (Engineering) has been appointed in-charge of the project and the contractor has been instructed to complete the contract as soon as possible.
