The work of removing encroachment on the land of monasteries and temples in Bihar will start soon. Bihar government made an announcement in this regard on Friday. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said in the Assembly on Friday that a survey is underway to detect any encroachment on the land of unregistered temples or monasteries. During Question Hour in Bihar Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that after the completion of the survey, encroachment on the land of temples and monasteries will be removed within three months. He said, 'The state government is committed to ensure that there is no sale or purchase of immovable properties including lands belonging to unregistered or registered temples and monasteries in the state. Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts (BSBRT) keeps asking the district administration to ensure that unregistered temples or maths are registered on priority basis. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the Revenue Department of the state government is keeping track of unregistered temples or mathas in the state. According to the latest data of BSBRT, there are about 2512 unregistered temples or monasteries in the state and they have more than 4321.64 acres of land. The total number of temples registered in the state is around 2499 and they have more than 18,456 acres of land. A senior official of the board said that the state government will take strict action against those involved in illegal activities of buying and selling of properties of registered, unregistered temples, monasteries and trusts. According to him, according to the Bihar Hindu Religious Trust Act, 1950, all public temples, monasteries, trusts and dharamshalas in Bihar must be registered with the BSBRT.
