New CM of Odisha appointed
BJP approves name of Mohan Majhi, will also have 2 deputy CMs
Bhubaneswar, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has put an end to speculations about the new Chief Minister of Odisha. BJP's Mohan Majhi will be the new CM of the state. He will take oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by two deputy chief ministers - first-time MLA Pravati Parida and six-time MLA KV Singh Deo. These decisions were taken at the BJP Legislature Party meeting, which was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav as observers.
He announced the name for the CM post after discussing with all the senior leaders and newly elected MPs and MLAs. After the announcement, Singh congratulated Majhi and called him a 'young and dynamic worker'.
He said in a post on 'X', "Happy to announce that Mohan Charan Majhi has been unanimously elected as the leader of the Odisha BJP Legislature Party. He is a young and dynamic party worker who will take the state forward on the path of progress and prosperity as the new Chief Minister of Odisha. Many congratulations to him.”
He further said, “Also, it has been decided that two Deputy Chief Ministers will be nominated to lead the new state government. K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will serve the state as Deputy Chief Ministers. Congratulations to them too!”
Four-time MLA Mohan Majhi hails from the tribal community and was elected from Keonjhar seat in the recently concluded assembly elections. He defeated BJD's Meena Majhi by a margin of 11,577 votes. A strong tribal face, Majhi is known for his public service and organisational skills.
