Gaya, A special team of police and STF in Gaya achieved a major success on Saturday and arrested Naxalite Munna Rawani alias Munna Chandravanshi alias Mukesh, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Bharti confirmed this arrest. He said that Munna Rawani was wanted in dozens of Naxalite incidents and was absconding for a long time.

Police said that Gaya police was looking for Munna Rawani for a long time to arrest him. Based on secret information, the police and STF team raided his house in Ghirsindi village of Mau police station area, where he had come to meet his family. On sensing the presence of police, Munna tried to run away, but the police force chased him and arrested him. Earlier also, on 22 April 2024, an attempt was made to catch him in Simrauwa village of Dhangai police station area, but then he fired at the police and escaped taking cover of the forest and mountains.

According to the information, Naxalite cases are registered against Munna Rawani in many police stations of Gaya district, such as Konch, Sherghati, Tikari and Rajauli police station of Nawada district. He was absconding for a long time in these cases, on which the police had announced a reward of one lakh rupees. Along with his arrest, the police have also recovered Naxalite documents and many shells.

Naxalite activities will be curbed

SSP Ashish Bharti said that the arrest of this notorious Naxalite will curb Naxalite activities in the area. Anti-Naxal operations are being conducted by the police and paramilitary forces in the area, under which many actions ranging from area domination are being taken in Naxal-affected areas. This important arrest is likely to reduce Naxalite activities and will help in restoring peace in the area.
