Anil Vij did not attend the swearing in
BJP leader Anil Vij did not attend the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday. However, according to former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Vij was also to be included in the cabinet. Earlier in the day, former Haryana Home Minister Vij had walked out in anger from the BJP legislature party meeting in which Saini was elected leader. When former Chief Minister Khattar was asked by journalists here whether Vij's name was in the race for the post of Deputy Chief Minister, he said, "Ministers were to take oath today and his (Vij's) name was in that (list). But he could not come.
When asked whether Vij was angry, he said, "Anil Vij is our senior colleague. He sometimes gets angry, but later becomes normal. Khattar said that there have been many such incidents in the past too when Vij got angry over something but later things became normal. He said, "I spoke to him. He said that he does not feel like coming (to the swearing-in ceremony). We will talk to him. Naib Saini ji too Will talk to them.
Khattar can contest Lok Sabha elections
Hours after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as Haryana Chief Minister along with his cabinet colleagues, he on Tuesday hinted that the party may field him in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Khattar also said that he has learned that the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone. Khattar told the media that the party leadership has told him that he will be given some more responsibility. “A decision on this may be taken soon,” he said. He said, "Maybe it is about the Lok Sabha elections. I think it is possible. Whatever decision the Parliamentary Board takes, I will follow it. There is speculation that Khattar will be asked to contest from Karnal Lok Sabha seat. Can be called.
Manohar had resigned along with all the members of the Council of Ministers.
Earlier in the day, Khattar and all 13 other members of the BJP-led Council of Ministers submitted their resignations to the Governor when a team of central observers from the party reached Chandigarh. This change in Haryana has come amid the breakdown of the ruling BJP-JJP alliance. BJP has made Other Backward Class (OBC) leader Nayab Singh Saini the Chief Minister in place of Khattar. Saini later took oath as the new Chief Minister of Haryana. Khattar said that it is a matter of happiness that Saini, MP from Kurukshetra, has been made the Chief Minister.
