Ahmedabad, Former champions Gujarat Titans registered their first win of the season by defeating five-time champions Mumbai Indians by 36 runs in the ninth match of IPL 2025 played on Saturday. In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, hosts Gujarat Titans, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 196 runs for 8 wickets and then restricted Mumbai's team to 160 runs for 6 wickets.

This is Mumbai Indians' fourth consecutive defeat in four matches against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in IPL. This is the second consecutive defeat in two matches in IPL 2025, while this is Gujarat's first win in two matches this season.

Chasing the target of 197 runs given by Gujarat, Mumbai Indians lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma (8) on the score of 8 runs and then Ryan Rickelton (6) on the score of 35. Both were clean bowled by fast bowler Mohammad Siraj. After this, Mumbai's team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and then remained far from the target.

For Mumbai, captain Suryakumar Yadav scored the highest 48 and Tilak Verma scored 39 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not do anything special. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took two wickets each while Kagiso Rabada and R Sai Kishore took one wicket each for Gujarat Titans.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans scored 196 runs for eight wickets with Sai Sudarshan's half-century. Sudarshan scored 63 runs in 41 balls with four fours and two sixes, apart from sharing 78 runs for the first wicket with captain Shubman Gill (38) and 51 runs for the second wicket with Jos Buttler (39) to set a good platform for the team.

Gill hit four fours and a six in his 27-ball innings. Apart from the top three batsmen, other Gujarat batsmen struggled to score runs and only Sherfane Rutherford (18) managed to reach double figures.

For Mumbai, captain Hardik Pandya was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 29 runs. Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Satyanarayan Raju got one wicket each.
