More than half a dozen crocodiles camped in a village in Bihar
Villagers in fear stopped leaving their homes

More than half a dozen crocodiles have reached a village in West Champaran, Bihar. The crocodiles are living in the canal passing near the village. Due to fear of the dreaded crocodiles, not only the people of that village but also the people of the surrounding villages have stopped going to the area. The villagers are pleading to the Forest Department of the Bihar Government for their safety but no one is ready to listen.
A case of West Champaran district
This incident is of West Champaran district. Crocodiles have camped in the village bordering Nepal and Uttar Pradesh for the last several days. Due to this, there is panic among the villagers. People are hesitant to go out of their homes to work in the fields. The villagers say that more than half a dozen crocodiles have come in the canal of the village. They are often seen coming out of the canal and roaming in the fields. But the local administration and the forest department are not doing anything.
Crocodile reached from Gandak river via canal
Actually there is a barrage on Gandak river in Valmikinagar of West Champaran. The canal originates from here. Crocodiles living in Gandak river enter the canal due to obstruction on the barrage and then reach the rural area. Local people are telling that more than half a dozen crocodiles have reached the canal passing through Ojhavaliya and Sahadatpur Donwar Shanichari village of Valmikinagar. These crocodiles have camped on the banks of 40 RD bridge.
Villagers Vashisht Mahato, Chhedi Mahato, Upendra Kumar and others told that about half a dozen crocodiles are seen on the banks of the canal for the last 15-20 days. Due to fear of them, people have stopped going there. Farmers of the village used to go to the canal to wash their cattle. But now the cattle rearers are not going to the banks of the canal. Farmer Brajesh Mahato told that his agricultural land is on the banks of the canal. On Friday, when he went to the bank of the canal, he suddenly saw two crocodiles. Brajesh Mahto somehow saved his life and ran away from there.
Farmer Brajesh Mahto has informed the villagers as well as the local head about this incident. Donwar Panchayat head Savita Devi told the media that crocodiles have set up their base here, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the villagers. Farmers who have land on the banks of the canal are not going to their fields. Local people have informed the administration and the forest department about the crocodiles but no one has reached there.
