Deir al-Balah: The death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 44,000 during the 13-month-long war between Israel and Hamas. Local Palestinian health officials gave information about this on Thursday. The Gaza Health Ministry does not distinguish between civilians and fighters in its calculations, but it has said that more than half of the dead are women and children. The Israeli army has said without providing any evidence that it has killed more than 17,000 terrorists.

Thousands buried in rubble
The Health Ministry said that 44,056 people have been killed and 104,268 injured since the war began. It has also been said that the actual death toll is higher because thousands of bodies are buried under the rubble or in areas where doctors cannot reach. The situation in Gaza is such that people are not even able to get food and water. Millions of people have also been displaced.

Hamas carried out a terrorist attack
The war between the two sides began when Hamas-led terrorists attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people. During this time, Hamas fighters kidnapped 250 people, out of which about 100 people are still held hostage in Gaza, but it is believed that at least one-third of them have died.
