Accident occurred due to buffalo coming on railway track
Sambalpur, MEMU passenger train derailed in Sambalpur, Odisha on Wednesday (8 November). This accident happened near Sarala.
Sambalpur DRM Vineet Kumar said, "The MEMU passenger train running from Jharsuguda to Sambalpur derailed. This happened because a buffalo had come on the track and got stuck under the coach. In such a situation, when the train passed overhead, the trolley of a coach derailed. No passengers were injured in this. Everyone is safe.
What did the Railways say?
A passenger train derailed after colliding with a buffalo in Odisha's Sambalpur district on Wednesday evening, the East Coast Railway (ECOR) said. However, all the passengers are safe.
ECoR said in a statement that four wheels of a coach of the Jharsuguda-Sambalpur passenger special train derailed at around 6.25 pm due to a buffalo suddenly coming on the railway track on the Sarala-Sambalpur section. The buffalo died in the accident.
The team reached the spot
Sambalpur Divisional Railway Manager and his team reached the spot to start operations on the blocked line. News agency PTI quoted the official as saying that the trains started operating at 8.35 pm with a lower speed limit of 30 km per hour.
