The meeting of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Jha. In the meeting, many important points related to the functioning of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its associated institutions were reviewed. In the meeting, Sanjay Jha said that Purnia Airport of Bihar should be made functional soon. Along with this, the points related to making Darbhanga Airport an international airport were also discussed in detail with the officials.

In the meeting, the officials gave detailed information on points like sudden disruption caused due to bad weather at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the steps being taken to deal with it, reasons for delay in flights, standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to providing emergency medical facilities at airports and availability of wheel chairs for Divyangjans. During this, the officials were asked what steps are being taken towards setting up cheap canteens at airports? They were also asked to adopt a convenient process instead of repeated security checks for international transit passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Apart from the MPs who attended the parliamentary committee meeting, Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary V. Vualanam, Airport Authority of India Chairman Vipin Kumar, Directorate General of Civil Aviation Joint Director General Harish Kumar Vashisht, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security Director General Rajesh Nirvana, Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Chairperson SKG Rahate, Cargo Logistics and Allied Services CEO Ajay Kumar, Airport Services Limited CEO Rambabu Chintalacheruvu, Adani Group General Manager Sourav Gautam, GMR Group Director Narayan Kada Rao, Blue Dart Aviation Limited CSM Arun Ahlawat and many senior officials of the Civil Aviation Ministry, related organizations and companies were present.
