A major accident was averted in Ujjain on Thursday when a fire brigade vehicle belonging to the Municipal Corporation lost control and crashed into the railing of the main Shipra River bridge while attempting to avoid a car. Following the incident, a chaotic atmosphere prevailed on the bridge for a brief period. There are no reports of any casualties in the incident; however, the front section of the fire brigade vehicle was left dangling over the bridge's railing, creating a perilous situation.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 12:00 PM today on the main Shipra River bridge. It is reported that a car approaching from the opposite direction suddenly came into close proximity with the fire brigade vehicle. The driver swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting the car but lost control, causing the fire brigade truck to crash directly into the bridge's side railing. The vehicle's front wheel reached the very edge of the bridge, leaving onlookers holding their breath for a few moments.

Immediately after the incident, bystanders and police personnel arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Traffic on the bridge was halted for a short duration to facilitate the safe removal of the vehicle. The driver and the crew members present in the fire brigade vehicle were safely evacuated. Preliminary reports indicate that none of the crew members sustained serious injuries.

Locals point out that this main bridge over the Shipra River has frequently been in the news due to various accidents in the past. The movement of heavy vehicles and high-speed traffic on the bridge often poses a risk of accidents. In recent months alone, several accidents have occurred on the Shipra Bridge, raising persistent questions regarding safety protocols and the structural integrity of the railings.

Municipal Corporation and police officials have initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminarily, the incident is being attributed to a loss of vehicular control while the driver was attempting to avoid a collision. Meanwhile, the administration is now preparing to further tighten safety measures and traffic control regulations on the bridge.
