Major accident averted in Satna
Birla Cement ropeway trolleys fall onto main road, raising questions about safety arrangements
Satna, Birla Cement Private Limited, located in the heart of Satna, remains in the headlines every day. Furthermore, the rules and regulations of the Central Government, State Government, or District Administration have no effect on its management. The Birla Cement Factory, known as Satna Cement, makes and operates its own rules and regulations.
Today, the city erupted in an uproar when some trolleys carrying cement from Satna Cement's Naina Sagmania mines via ropeway broke and fell onto the main road, while others entangled with each other on the bridge, resulting in no casualties.
The Birla management had been operating the ropeway via Bela and Bathia for a long time, ignoring safety and environmental regulations. The villagers nearby had complained about this to the responsible officer several times, but despite so many complaints, no action was taken by the district administration, as a result of which a major accident was averted today.
