Madrasa teacher arrested in Ahmedabad
Allegation of unnatural rape with 10 minor students
Ahmedabad, A 25-year-old teacher of a madrassa in Gujarat's Junagadh district has been arrested for raping at least 10 minor students. Police gave this information.
Junagadh district police said in a statement on Monday that apart from the Maulana (teacher), the police have also arrested the 55-year-old trustee of the madrassa for not taking any action against the teacher despite complaints from students.
The statement said the teacher was caught from his hideout in Surat, while the madrasa trustee was caught from a location in Junagadh on Sunday.
According to the statement, based on the complaint of the 17-year-old boy, Mangrol police on Sunday booked both the accused under sections 377 (unnatural intercourse), 323 (assault), 506-2 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and sexual offenses against children. An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Junagadh Superintendent of Police Harshad Mehta visited the madrasa and assured the parents of the students of a fair investigation by the police.
