For common citizens also, the guidelines say that idols made from POP should not be immersed in rivers, ponds, ghats. It should be immersed only at those places where artificial ponds have been constructed by the administration. Decorative material should be separated before immersion.
It is the responsibility of the common man to protect rivers and other water sources from pollution. Every aware person will have to come forward to protect the rivers getting polluted due to religious rituals. For this, eco-friendly methods should be adopted in religious rituals. Under which only clay should be used while making idols. Idols made using any kind of toxic metals and plastic ultimately cause environmental pollution. We can also contribute to saving aquatic life by adopting Ganapati idols made of eco-friendly natural materials like clay, sandalwood instead of plaster of Paris. If we want, we can use the same Ganapati idol for many years and instead of immersing it, we can immerse other small idols. By using eco-friendly idols, these are such idols that dissolve easily in water. By purchasing such idols in which turmeric and other naturally obtained colors have been used instead of artificial paint.
