Madhya Pradesh CBN team nabs smugglers fleeing in film style in Rajasthan
911.540 kg poppy husk seized, two arrested
In continuation of anti-drug operations, based on specific intelligence, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Jawra Cell intercepted a Mahindra Bolero Pickup along with its occupants at Nayagaon Toll Plaza (between Chittorgarh and Baran in Rajasthan). A total of 45 bags of poppy husk weighing 911.540 kg were seized on November 29 in Tehsil & District-Kota (Rajasthan).
Two persons in a Mahindra Bolero Pickup having Rajasthan registration were carrying poppy husk from Manasa (MP) area to Bikaner (Rajasthan) area, a team of officers of CBN Jawra Cell was formed. The vehicle was identified at Nayagaon Toll Plaza Rajasthan. CBN officers signaled the vehicle to stop but the drug smugglers collided with the departmental vehicle. They then turned around and rammed into a civilian vehicle behind it, causing it to get completely damaged. Moving ahead, the drug smugglers again collided with the CBN vehicle which was blocking their way and preventing them from escaping. The drug smugglers also tried to flee from the spot but vigilant CBN officers foiled their attempt. A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of 45 bags of poppy husk weighing 911.540 kg. After completion of legal formalities, the recovered poppy husk along with the vehicle was seized and two persons were arrested under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
