The passenger was travelling to Delhi on the same flight in which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also to board. The passenger was identified as Mohammad Imtiaz, a resident of Gopalganj. Although the license of the cartridges was found to be valid in the later investigation, the incident had put the security agencies on alert mode.
During security checks at Patna airport, CISF personnel recovered two live cartridges from the handbag of a passenger, Mohammad Imtiaz. Imtiaz was to travel to Delhi on IndiGo flight 6E-245, in which Rahul Gandhi was also to board. Rahul Gandhi was returning to Delhi after attending a Constitution Security Conference in Patna. Security was tightened at the airport after the cartridges were found, and the flight was delayed by 30 minutes.
Later, when the investigation was done, it was found that Imtiyaz had a valid license for cartridges, which he showed for the weapon issued in his father's name. He told that he had forgotten the cartridge in a hurry to get it and had kept it in his bag. The police let him go with a warning after preliminary investigation, as no criminal intent was found.
Let us tell you that recently international level security arrangements have been made in the new terminal of Patna Airport, which includes advanced luggage checking system. Still, this incident shows that the slightest mistake or negligence can still breach the security of passengers.
