Katni, Katni Railway Police has exposed the incidents of theft in many other trains including Sarnath Express by arresting three accused. Stolen cash worth Rs 4 lakh 91 thousand has been recovered from the accused.

Railway station in-charge Aruna Vahane said that on the night of 2-3 May, GRP staff was checking railway stations and outers. During night patrolling, three persons were found in suspicious condition near Katni South Outer railway station. Who were brought to the police station and interrogated closely. During interrogation, the accused revealed that seven months ago, on 7 October 2023, Swati Singh, who was traveling from Varanasi to Raipur in an AC coach of Sarnath Express, had a ladies purse containing gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh. Admitted committing theft along with another person. Among the stolen jewellery, two pairs of earrings, one pair of silver anklets, one pair of silver anklets, one pair of gold tops, one pair of gold earrings, one Mangal Sutra of gold, four gold rings, total value of Rs 5 lakh. Masruka worth Rs. has been seized from the possession of the three accused. Another accused in this case is absconding, from whom the remaining material of the case is to be seized.
