Katni, Deputy Chief Minister of the state and Health and Medical Education Minister Rajendra Shukla, who arrived on a short visit to Katni district, launched a scathing attack on Pakistan over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He said that "Pakistan is a country which has been promoting terrorism for decades." Describing this attack as a direct attack on humanity, he said that the Government of India will not back down from taking strict action against terrorism at any level. Deputy Chief Minister Shukla paid tribute to the soldiers and civilians martyred in the attack and expressed condolences to their families. Traveling from Shahdol district, he reached Katni's Mudwara railway station, from where he left for Bhopal by train. During his Katni visit, when journalists questioned Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla about the liquor shop operating in the densely populated Bhatta Mohalla in the district—where former minister and BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak himself had to go to close the shop—he replied that "the entire matter will be investigated and the district administration will take necessary action." Apart from this, when journalists questioned him about the complaints made against the district hospital and CMHO in other matters including providing jobs to family members, the Deputy Chief Minister said, "This complaint has come to my notice. I have also talked to the complainant. The matter will be investigated and it would not be appropriate to take any action before the investigation. After the investigation is completed, strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty."
