If we talk about Damoh Assembly, here after 20 years, once again Jayant Malaiya and Ajay Tandon will be face to face. In 2003, elections were held between these two candidates in which Jayant Malaiya defeated Ajay Tandon by a margin of more than 12000 votes. Since Saturday morning, there was a discussion going on in the entire district as to why BJP has not released its second list yet because everyone's eyes are fixed on Damoh Assembly. Damoh Assembly is currently high profile in the entire Madhya Pradesh because former Congress MLA Rahul Singh had resigned from Congress and joined BJP and by-election was held here in 2021. In which Congress candidate Ajay Tandon defeated Rahul Singh by 17000 votes. Although the BJP government had given the status of Cabinet Minister to Rahul Singh and he was contesting again in the 2023 general elections, but the BJP has expressed its trust only on seven-time MLA and former Finance Minister Jayant Kumar Malaiya. In 1998, Ajay Tandon lost the election to Jayant Malaiya by 5000 votes, whereas in 2003, Jayant Malaiya defeated Ajay Tandon by about 12000 votes. After 20 years, these two candidates are facing each other for the third time.
