Mumbai, New Zealand were all out for 235 on the first day of the third Test match being played in Mumbai. Daryl Mitchell (82) and Will Young (71) played excellent innings to take the team to a respectable score. Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly, where Jadeja took 5 wickets and Sundar took 4 wickets.

India did not have a good start in batting, and by the end of the first day's play, India scored 86 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. New Zealand bowler Ajaz Patel troubled the Indian top order, including the important wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and nightwatchman Mohammed Siraj. Experienced batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also struggled, due to which New Zealand can be seen in a strong position after the first day's play.

The first day of the match belonged to the spinners of both the teams and proved to be challenging for the batsmen. New Zealand has put pressure on India with its bowling, but India has a chance to make a comeback.
