After the result of Lok Sabha election was declared, Rajya Sabha seats of many states have also become vacant. The reason for this is that many Rajya Sabha MPs contested Lok Sabha elections and also won. So now they will resign from Rajya Sabha and take membership of Lok Sabha. In such a situation, the number of seats to be vacant in Rajya Sabha is 10 and the biggest thing is that there is NDA or BJP government in these states.
Actually, Lok Sabha election is over and now it is the turn of Rajya Sabha by-election. By-election has been announced by Rajya Sabha Secretariat for 10 vacant seats. A notification has been issued in this regard stating that after the victory of members in Lok Sabha elections, 10 seats of the upper house have become vacant.
In such a situation, now after Rajya Sabha by-election, BJP-led NDA is going to be strengthened in the House. Whereas the strength of India alliance and Congress is going to decrease. This time in Rajya Sabha by-election, all the seats are going to go to BJP-NDA alliance. The reason for this is that the states where by-elections are going to be held, currently have BJP-NDA government. Therefore, this time Congress is going to lose two seats.
It is known that two Rajya Sabha MPs of Congress, KC Venugopal and Deepender Hooda have won the Lok Sabha elections. Venugopal is a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan, while Hooda is a member of the upper house from Haryana. Currently, BJP has a majority in Haryana and Rajasthan. However, due to JJP's separation from the NDA alliance and elections being held after a few months, there is scope for play in the by-election to be held in Haryana. It is not clear yet whether Congress will field a candidate in the Rajya Sabha by-election of Haryana or not. If this happens, then Bhupendra Hooda can field a leader of his choice or he can support a leader like Chaudhary Birendra or Kiran Chaudhary to appease the rival leaders within the party.
On the other hand, out of the 10 seats of Rajya Sabha that have fallen vacant, 7 seats are occupied by BJP. Two seats are with Congress, while one seat is in the account of RJD. Two seats each are vacant from Bihar, Maharashtra and Assam, while one seat each is vacant from Rajasthan, Tripura, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. In the Rajya Sabha by-election, BJP is also going to win two seats that belong to Congress. Congress has two seats from Haryana and Rajasthan, where BJP is currently in power with a majority.
